1 John 4:8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
1 John 4:19 We love because he first loved us.
Any ability I have to receive or exchange ‘love’ is a gift from God for God is the source of all love, for He is love. If I then love it is merely God working through me to accomplish His sovereign purpose in me and I am merely an agent of that which He empowers me to do as His vessel of grace. I cannot take credit for the love I give for in doing so I would be guilty of receiving something that does not belong to me for no human can truly love outside of that which they have divinely received and this would be the very essence of pride and treason against the Most High and this is why the flow of love is then interrupted. Any true effort to love has to be based on the merit of something outside of ourselves and it is then and only then that we, as God’s creatures, can truly begin to give and receive that which we were meant to communicate, and that dependence upon God, is what will make us equal in His sight. How simple is the truth and how utterly foolish is the debate that rages all around us?
